If you want to go back to the old text editor in WordPress, you can do it right away! The only thing you need to do to achieve this is to install and activate a simple plugin.
I have been working in WordPress almost for over a decade now. I have seen a lot of changes and updates coming through the years. But nothing as huge as the change in the Post Text editor. They included the “Blocks Editor” in the release of WordPress 5.0.
I’m always in favor of innovation and evolution in software. However, this is one of the changes that I did not enjoy one bit.
It is entirely different from the WordPress Classic editor we have always loved.
The transition was not intuitive at all and even felt invasive as they did not offer you a clear way to go back to the old editor.
I knew that it was time to update myself and learn this new text edition interface.
The problem was, that around that time, I had a lot of work to do. So many posts scheduled for the week which that update was released.
The time it took me to finish my first blog post on the new editor almost doubled from my regular writing. All because I was not familiar with the new editor yet.
I decided that the best thing for me to do was to go back to the old WordPress Editor so I could finish writing my posts.
Here is how you can do it too!
Switch Back to WordPress Classic Editor
It is a quite simple and straight forward process.
The only thing you need to do is to install a plugin called Classic Editor by WordPress Contributors.
Click Install then Click Activate and you are done! Enjoy of the old WordPress text editor!
